Quality in fabrication is not a promise, it is a set of checks. If a workshop cannot tell you where measurement happens, quality is being left to luck. This is how we control it at BAFA.
Check the first one, not the last one
Every batch starts with a first-off part that is measured against the drawing before the rest are made. Catching an error on part one costs minutes; catching it on part fifty costs the whole batch.
Cut from the file, not from a trace
Profiles run straight from your CAD file to the CNC plasma table, which removes hand-marking error and keeps every repeat piece identical - the main reason CNC beats manual cutting on multi-part assemblies.
Fit up before you weld
Most weld failures start as bad fit-up. Gaps get filled with extra weld metal, which adds heat, which pulls the assembly out of square. We jig and clamp, check diagonals, tack, then re-check before final passes.
Distortion control basics we apply
- Balanced, staggered welding sequence instead of one long continuous run
- Correct heat input for the thickness rather than maximum speed
- Cooling checks before final measurement, because hot steel reads wrong
Match the tolerance to the function
We ask which features matter. Mating faces, bores and bolt centres get machined and measured on the mill or lathe; cosmetic edges get dressed to look right. That keeps your cost proportional to your actual requirement.
Finish is part of quality
Sharp edges dressed, spatter removed, surfaces properly prepared before coating. A weld that is strong but rusting in six months has still failed the client.
Final inspection and handover
