Sheet Metal Bending and Folding in Kisii: Getting Clean, Repeatable Folds

Bending is where a flat sheet becomes a product. Here is what affects the price, and the details that ruin a fold if nobody checks them.

Almost every fabricated product passes through a press brake. Get the folds right and a cabinet closes squarely, a gutter drains, a section carries load. Get them wrong and nothing lines up. Here is how sheet metal bending works at our Kisii workshop.

What we fold

  • Gutters, ridges, flashings, valleys and roofing accessories
  • Cladding panels, fascias and trims
  • Cabinets, enclosures, boxes and control panels
  • Ducting, hoppers, chutes and trays
  • Channels, angles, Z-sections and stiffeners

The three details that decide quality

Bend allowance. Metal stretches at the fold. A part cut to finished size before bending ends up oversize; we calculate the flat pattern first so the folded part hits your dimension.

Inside radius. Too tight for the material and thickness and the outside face cracks. We match tooling to material.

Bend sequence. Some folds physically block the next one. Sequencing is planned before the first stroke.

What we need for a bending quote

  • Material and thickness (for example 1.0mm galvanised, 3mm mild steel)
  • Flat size or the folded dimensions with a sketch
  • Number of bends per piece and quantity
  • Total length, since very long folds need the right bed length
  • Finish: bare, primed, painted or powder coated

Cut, fold, weld, finish - one workshop

Profiles come off the plasma table, go straight to the press brake, then to welding and finishing. That keeps handling costs and lead times down, and it means one team owns the tolerance from flat sheet to finished item.
